Sunday Morning Bonus Pulp: Excitement, October 1930
Now there's a goofy cover for you, from a Street & Smith pulp I'd never even heard of until I came across the listing for it on the Fictionmags Index. The only authors in this issue I'm familiar with are Ben Conlan, who wrote the Pete Rice stories, and Paul Chadwick, the creator of Secret Agent X. I think that cover would have scared me if I'd seen it when I was a kid. It's kind of creepy even now.

I love that cover.
The question, for me, is: Is the robot drawing something out of the man's mouth, or shooting something into it?
Yes, EXCITEMENT doesn't seem to have been the biggest success for S&S...perhaps if had been EXCITEMENT STORIES...they had the Clayton titles soon enough...
I collect Street & Smith's SEA STORIES and strangely enough, SEA STORIES changed its name to EXCITEMENT. According to the pulp references, after 10 issues it changed the name again, this time to COLLEGE STORIES.
