The Last Cop Out Cover

In response to a comment from John Hocking two posts back, here's the paperback edition of THE LAST COP OUT, the second novel to feature Mickey Spillane's wife on the cover. I remember liking this book about the same as THE ERECTION SET, which means it was pretty entertaining but not in the top rank of Spillane's work. I think my least-favorite Spillane novels are the Tiger Mann books. I still liked them, just not as much as the others.

I think these are two of the best paperback covers I've seen in all my born days. (Does anybody say "all my born days" anymore?)

They had themselves some nice book covers back in the 70's. Odd to think that the lady in question is probably around 60 now.

This one is part of my library as well.

Bob,

Only people who use the word "nudie".

Pericles,

According to IMDB, she was born in 1941, so that makes her 67 or 68. Also, she was married to Mickey Spillane from 1964 to 1983.

This is the more flattering photo.

The other great covers from this time were the photo covers for the Mike Shayne books.

That one dates from the time when women had a**es. See how the boys like it.

With a wife like that it's a wonder he did any writing.

Being an assman, I love this cover. The book wasn't bad, but not up to the cover.

I just red The Last Cop Out for a class in university. I am 43 and not a prude. I swear, the only reason I could see that this book sold WAS the cover. The collecting of belly buttons, the ending, etc. It made me ill....
