Very nice Walter Baumhofer cover on this issue of DIME WESTERN, and inside are stories by an all-star group of writers: T.T. Flynn, Walt Coburn, Cliff Farrell, Ray Nafziger, Robert E. Mahaffey, and house-name Bart Cassidy. No wonder DIME WESTERN is considered one of the very best Western pulps.

At this point the magazine was such a success that they were publishing an issue twice a month. This issue is October 1 and the third under the new frequency schedule.
Oh for those mythic days when a magazine featuring adventurous short stories could be so popular it was published twice a month.
Sigh.
That was a different world.

It's hard to even imagine now, isn't it?
Sure was a different world. Cripes. Even the 1960s and 70s, when the Lancer CONAN paperbacks were coming out and all those multitudinous pulp paperback series of SF and fantasy adventure, and historicals (Dumarest, Wolfshead, George Abercrombie Fox) were appearing on the bookstore racks, was a different world. Ah, well. Look forward, not back. H.P. Lovecraft made the error of spending his whole life looking back.
