Speaking of explosions, as I was in the previous post, there’s one in TAKEN, and a lot of other action, too. Liam Neeson, handling the running, shooting, and fighting parts just fine, plays a retired CIA agent who goes after the bad guys who kidnap his daughter while she’s vacationing in Paris. Needless to say, since Luc Besson co-wrote this film, Neeson’s character is a one-man army much like Frank Martin in the Transporter movies, although the stunts in this one are somewhat more believable. There aren’t really any twists to the plot. Everything plays out pretty much like you’d expect it to. But when it’s done as well as it is here, that’s fine with me. I liked TAKEN a lot, and if you’re in the mood for an action movie, I highly recommend it.

I loved this one!
Well, there's quite a bit of violence but not a lot of blood that I remember, and the proverbial adult themes. But I've never been able to figure out why certain movies get certain ratings.
I've been wanting to see this. Glad to hear it is good.
Taken is the most intense movie i have seen in years. I'm talking "hands griping your armchair" intense. After taking about fifteen minutes to introduce characters and establish the Neeson character as more than competent for what is to come, the film is off to the races. Neeson does such an incredible job. I had never thought of him in a role like this, but he clearly excels.
Seeing the trailers for this movie, it looked a little generic--and the kind of movie Harrison Ford turned down--but it might not be so bad. Next time I'm looking to rent something, I'll have to keep this in mind.
