100 Science Fiction Novels You Just Have to Read
I've read 22 out of the 100, mostly the older books on the list, which isn't surprising considering that I don't read much modern SF. But there are quite a few books on here that I own and have never read, so I really ought to get around to giving them a try.
Thanks to Winchell Chung on the Space Opera SF list for the link.

Coincidentally, I've also read 22 of the total. Some terrific books on the list. Also a surprising number I'd never even heard of, which just goes to show out of touch with modern SF I am.
Thanks for the link!
I counted 56 books that I've read in the list, not all of which I would recommend. Interesting nevertheless.
46.
Now, the big question: how many people claim to have actually finished Dhalgren?
I've read 24 that I'm sure of. I've also seen the movies made from about 10 others, Not bad for someone who is a casual s-f reader.
Not an overwhelmingly modern list, at that, but no more representative of All That's Good than any other exercise like this...this list likes THE UPANISHADS rather than REPUBLIC or THE EPIC OF GILGAMESH among arguable proto-sf, and that's hardly the only arguable inclusion. Though there's only one writer I've not heard of, there are a number of things I haven't read, or (such as DUNE) finished...but any such list that leaves off, say, Joanna Russ's THE FEMALE MAN but includes Asimov's barely-disguised short story collection I, ROBOT ain't really my list, as important as some of those short stories are...
Great list of books. I love science fiction but am ashamed to say there are only about 5 books on that list that I've read. There are more authors on the list than that whose books I have read, however.
