Saturday Morning Western Pulp: Western Story, January 3, 1942
Another fine H.W. Scott cover on this issue of WESTERN STORY, and look at that line-up of authors inside: William Colt MacDonald, L.L. Foreman, Philip Ketchum, H.A. DeRosso, Glenn Wichman, and Seth Ranger, who was really Frank Richardson Pierce. Great Western reading week after week.
This is one of my favorite issues of WESTERN STORY. The L.L. Foreman story is the beginning of his 5 part serial, THE RENEGADE about the cavalry. It was made into a film under another title. Excellent serial.

ReplyDeleteThat would be 1952's THE SAVAGE, starring Charlton Heston. I don't think I've ever seen it.
ReplyDeleteRight, I saw THE SAVAGE a few months ago and enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteBelmont Books reprinted it with the title "Decision at Little Big Horn" in 1971.
