Sunday Morning Bonus Pulp: Detective Yarns, April 1941


David Goodis is by far the biggest name in this issue of DETECTIVE YARNS, although he wasn't as big a name in 1941 as he was during the 1950s as an author of noir paperback novels. William G. Bogart, who was a solid pulpster and even ghosted some of the Doc Savage novels, is also present, along with J. Lane Linklater and several Columbia Publications house-names.

    Whoa, is our hero's hand nailed to the bannister with a knife?
    Unusual, but kinda cool, layout for this cover. Never even seen an issue of this pulp.

    Sean and John, yeah, the hero is really in a bad fix on this cover, with his hand pinned to that railing by a knife.

    Charles, I'm not as big a Goodis fan as some, but overall I like his work. He was pretty prolific writing for the pulps, mostly aviation yarns.
