In yesterday's post, I mentioned the Nevada Jim covers by James Bama, who at the time was enjoying great popularity as the cover artist on Bantam's Doc Savage series. Since then he's also become very well-known as a Western artist. I thought some of you might like to see a few more of the Nevada Jim covers.

Nevada Jim Covers by Bama
In yesterday's post, I mentioned the Nevada Jim covers by James Bama, who at the time was enjoying great popularity as the cover artist on Bantam's Doc Savage series. Since then he's also become very well-known as a Western artist. I thought some of you might like to see a few more of the Nevada Jim covers.

Great stuff, James. Thanks!
Now those are some covers!
I hear Bama lives near Cody, Wyo.
Bantam clearly wanted these covers to look as much like a Western version of Doc Savage as possible, right down to the same model. Works for me, though. I love 'em.
When I did my first fanzine in 1969 (along with Bob Juanillo), we did a mail interview with Bama because of his Doc Savage covers. Little did we know he was also a western artist or we would have delved into that aspect of his work.
Those are some great covers. The combination of your earlier review and these covers means I'm going to have to buy one of these McCoy's and read it. My TBR pile grows and grows and grows ...
I wondered if Bama used Steve Holland as the model for the Big Jim book covers. The poses are similar, but the face is different. But then, an artist IS able to change details.
